The Young Republicans (YRs) are the oldest political youth organization in the United States. Important to the growth of the Republican Party, the YRs reach out to Republicans, 18 to 40 years of age, and provide them with better political knowledge and understanding of the issues of the day.
The Forsyth County Young republicans (FCYRs) are committed to making a difference in local, state and national politics.
Our mission is to provide young Republicans with information on issues that are important to them while also providing a collaborative framework that links party leaders, candidates and policy experts with young Republicans.
Whether participating in policy shaping meetings, building support for local, state and national Republican candidates or running for various offices, FCYR members are providing the leadership today to build a stronger, more effective party for tomorrow.
While the FCYRs are best known for political activism and service to our community, YR events also provide a great opportunity for interaction among our members. This interaction allows for the exchange of ideas, networking and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Our members come in jeans and t-shirts, slacks and button downs, and represent attorneys and doctors, engineers and teachers and almost every other profession you can imagine.
If you are interested in politics close to home, in the great state of Georgia or on a National level, we encourage you to attend one of our events.
We always welcome guests to join us at our meetings and events. You do not have to join before you attend!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
As we enter 2012 the landscape has changed from what we saw in 2008 or in 2010. In fact this year is the first election that will be reflect the census of the 2010 year, which means that we in Georgia will have a bit more say in the Presidential choice than some of the Northern State like New Jersey and Michigan (also Iowa) all states that supported Obama in 2008, but it also means that we have to work harder to achieve the goals that the Republican's and especially us Young Republican's desire.
We know that we are the next generation of leaders, doers and supporters, but we are also the individuals that will inherit everything our Grandparents dreamed, our parents worked to achieve and the expectations that we will exceed. In order to do this we need to work to achieve and ensure our message is heard. We all know that government has gotten to large for itself and made promises that are not specified within the US Constitution or any of the Amendments to the Constitutions. While we all have been trained by the liberal education system to ask what is in it for me and not what can I do for you. To that extent I am going to tell you what you get by joining the Forsyth County YRs:
-
Membership in a National Organization. This membership places you on our National Rolls and giving members 18 to 40 years of age (until your 41st B-Day) a nationwide network of support and discussion interests.
-
Opportunities to attend training programs across the country like Young Republican Leadership Conference in Washington DC this year (http://yrlc2012.com/). This event will provide members of the YR's with not only an opportunity to learn different aspects of the political system or other items like how the 22nd Amendment affects the political system.
-
A lifetime of friendship. Though the establishment of the nationwide network mentioned above you will make friends and those friends will be with you for life. I know I have some from my time in Ft. Lauderdale and even now have made friends that I will have forever.
If these are not enough of a reason to either renew or join consider the following as well:
In 2012 with a Presidential Race, 2 Congressional races in Forsyth County, numerous local races including 4 State Legislators, and 2 State Senate Races (yes we have 2) it will be us the YRs that will have the best chance to make a difference within this county. While the County Party will work to ensure the National Elections (Presidential), we will be the soldiers going door to door and placing the signs that all the other races will look too. But on top of that we will like we have learned not only support our candidates, but help to host debates and forum discussions; ensure that the message of conservative values will help shape the next generation though various activities from reach into High Schools and the possible establishment of Teenage Republican clubs (TARS) or community service activities that demonstrate our understanding that you have to give back to the community to represent conservative values of helping those around you or finally just having a fun social event. All that can not be accomplished without your support and membership.
I will tell you all that one of the goals this years YR Forsyth EC has established is outreach we want to not only grow the group, but get the Republican Message out to more of our peers (18-40) and why it will help improve this Nation, State and Local Community. Thus I ask my fellow YR members to renew your membership or if not a member to join our ranks and help us achieve all that can be in 2012.

Reappointment maps and drawings. Considering the release of the new Congressional Maps that impact our county and representation for the next 10 years
If you have not seen the maps yet, here is the link to the State Map --> http://www.legis.ga.gov/Joint/reapportionment/Documents/congprop1.pdf It is one of the best in recent years as it relates to numbers and alignment of counties, but unfortunately Forsyth like several other counties in the state got cut apart (including Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Pickens to name a few).
